Keeping Promises

Those of us that make fitness and diet resolutions know we face a tough battle ahead, otherwise we wouldn’t have to make these promises to ourselves to do better in the new year; we’d already have made good on those promises long ago.

Here’s an article that I think really hits home with me and I hope you find some value in it too. I love the suggestion of an extensive food journal for anyone who is an emotional eater or the mindless snacker.

The main thing I took away from the article, however, was the positive approach to avoid defeat. You may say “I’m going to stop eating fast food”, but instead you could say “I’m going to eat more fruit and vegetables”. This simple step reverberates. The more healthy snacks you eat, the more full you’ll be and not have as much need for those fast food naughty things. Instead of saying “I’m going to get to the gym 3 times a week” you could say “I’m going to avoid the TV three nights a week.” Well there you go – you now have three free nights a week to go dancing, bowling, go for a walk or to go to the gym if you choose to!
